A Brief History of Singapore Theatre by Centre 42
Saturday, 16 Nov 2024, 5:00pm – 6:00pm
What was the first play to be staged in modern Singapore? When did the concept of ‘Singaporean theatre’ come into being? What kinds of plays were written ten, or thirty, or fifty years ago, and how different were they from what we see on stage now? A Brief History of Singapore Theatre, a presentation by Centre 42’s Documentation Executive Adelyn Tan, explores the answers to these questions and more, through an overview of the way our theatre scene has evolved from the pre-colonial era all the way up to present day. Find out more about the productions, people, and processes that make up our rich theatrical history!
A Brief History of Singapore Theatre is presented by Centre 42.
