In May 2006, thousands laughed and cried to the captivating humour of Krishnan's Dairy and The Candlestickmaker. Following its successful double bill, New Zealand's acclaimed indian ink theatre company returns to Singapore with The Pickle King, the third of its award-winning series of plays

Once the finest hotel in town, the Empire has long faded in glory and now finds its present incarnation playing host to honeymooners and operated by a motley crew of madcap employees.

Here in its midst, love begins to bud between two vulnerable but endearing people - Sasha Daniels, the hotel's stubborn receptionist, and the over-qualified night porter JoJo, a fully-trained heart surgeon who has recently uprooted from India and moved to New Zealand in search of greener pastures. The couple's burgeoning romance is threatened, however, by the ominous check--in of one pompous, sinister figure by the name of George Reaper, who calls himself The Pickle King.

Absurd and uproarious, here is a highly imaginative and deceptively simple play about finding the courage to love. The Pickle King will tickle and enamour romantics with its tender and heart-warming story.
