Presenting a series of new and original monologues created by local writers. Based around the theme “Silver Linings” each 4-6 minute monologue looks at the optimistic, the bittersweet, and the touching side of life in the shadow of the coronavirus. Somewhere lies the silver lining that we may find in these unusual and often frightening times.
There are positives to take from every situation and The Coronalogues will highlight the lighter side of life during the circuit breaker. Be it spending more time as a family, helping out a neighbour, building community spirit, getting used to wearing a mask (our latest fashion accessory) or the pitfalls of starting a new hobby or fitness routine, each monologue will focus on a character’s experiences and the way they are dealing with their new daily routine.

Sharul Channa is a full-time stand-up comedian and has also been formally trained in theatre from Lasalle, College of the Arts. This was the reason for her to continue her passion for acting despite having a flourishing stand-up career. She has performed four one-woman theatre shows: ‘Crazy poor Sita’ (Nominee, Best Actress, The Straits Times, Life! Theatre Awards 2020), Disco Sheela and other Indian superwomen, ‘Sharul Weds Sharul’ and ‘Am I old?’. She looks forward to being a part of SRT’s Coronalogues, being directed by the impeccable Daniel Jenkins and having the pleasure of working on Rishi Budhrani’s script.
Serene is a three-time winner of the Straits Times Life Theatre Awards for Best Supporting Actress, for Landmarks: Asian Boys Volume 2 (Wild Rice, 2004), 8 Women (S’ing Theatre, 2014) and Public Enemy (Wild Rice, 2016). Other recent stage credits include The Son, This Is What Happens To Pretty Girls (Pangdemonium), Framed, by Adolf; Writes; and Wong Kar Wai Dreams (The Finger Players); Detention Katong (Dream Academy); The House of Bernarda Alba (Wild Rice), and Charged; and GRC for the Singapore Theatre Festival (Teater Ekamatra).
On film, Serene starred in Colin Goh and Woo Yen Yen’s 2006 award-winning Singapore Dreaming; 3Meals; Paper House; Wee Li Lin’s Autograph Book; My Autograph Book, Sun Koh’s Dirty Bitch; Singapore Panda; The Studio – The Songs that sung her; and Paper House by Ler Jiyuan. With SRT, she has performed in Prospero’s Children for The Little Company and in Caught for its 2019 main season. She’s delighted to share in the virtual journey of SRT in this series of The Coronalogues.
Bridget Fernandez is currently known for playing Celia Shelley in the Singapore TV Series ‘Kin’. Her dramatic career that includes acting for screen and stage, drama education, corporate roleplay, directing, writing and producing spans over 30 years in America, England, Malaysia and Singapore. Some of Bridget’s favourite work include playing Jessica of Merchant of Venice in (San Francisco, USA) Golden Gate Park, Prisoner in Botany Bay for the Portsmouth Players (England), Jitsuko and Rokujo in Mishima in Love for World-In-Theatre (Singapore), Aida the maid in The Blue Mansion (Singapore/Malaysia), She played various roles in all The Singapore Story Projects for television and her own maiden online production now on YouTube entitled ‘For Heavens Sake ~ The Webseries’. Bridget has been inspired by this current circuit breaker. It has forced her to find creative ways to bring stories to others. This SRT project is precisely one of the ways and she feels privileged to be a part of The Coronalogues.
Sindhura Kalidas is a graduate of the NUS Theatre Studies programme. Since leaving NUS, she has worked with a number of theatre companies including Teater Ekamatra and Checkpoint Theatre. She was last seen in The Necessary Stage’s (TNS) 2019 re-staging of Off Centre and Ellison Tan’s We Were So Hopeful Then, a play produced under TNS’s developmental platform: The Orange Production. Sindhura is currently a member of The Finger Players’ Fellowship Programme. She is thrilled to be a part of The Coronalogues and hopes that the series will help to bring some cheer in these very trying times.
Neo Swee Lin trained as an actor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, now known as the Royal Scottish Conservatoire. She also has a law degree from NUS.
She has appeared in many plays including Missing, The Truth, Circle Mirror Transformation, Falling, Romeo & Juliet, Cooling Off Day, Nadirah, Poop, Beauty World, Cogito, For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again, Cinderel-lah!, The Crucible, Ah Kong’s Birthday Party, Hamlet, The Glass Menagerie, The Coffin is too Big for the Hole and No Parking on Odd Days, Emily of Emerald Hill, Mama Looking for her Cat.
She is married to Lim Kay Siu.
Rebekah Sangeetha Dorai is an actor, singer and voiceover artist. Recent selected theatre credits include her critically acclaimed one-woman show Building A Character at the 2018 W!ld Rice Singapore Theatre Festival, Discord of Discourse (UK), the Esplanade Studio’s Miss British, Eloquence (in collaboration with Santiago, Chile) and T:>works’ Three Fat Virgins, for which she was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress at the Life! Theatre Awards Singapore.
Sangeetha has also written songs for numerous productions, and debuted her solo jazz concert, Sinatra, in early 2019. Her next concert, Sangeetha Sings Simone, is slated for 2020/21. Follow her quirky life and dogs @ms.dorai.
Tan Shou Chen is a recognised theatremaker. Selected stage credits: ‘Tung Chih’ in Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress (SRT); Rising Son by Dick Lee (SRT);《聊斋》Liao Zhai Rocks (Shanghai, 2019, The Theatre Practice) The Reunification of Two Koreas (T:>Works and Centre Dramatique National de Tours), Molière’s The Hypochondriac (young & W!LD by W!LD Rice); Eugène Ionesco’s Rhinoceros (The Esplanade Studios); Twelfth Night (SRT); Charged (Teater Ekamatra); Framed by Hitler (The Finger Players); Grandmother Tongue (W!LD Rice); The Last Bull (Checkpoint Theatre); LKY The Musical (Metropolitan Productions). Shou Chen has also performed main roles on a number of TV programmes for MediaCorp. Shou Chen is also a director, voice-over artist and an educator.

Andy has lived and worked in Singapore since 1999, teaching and acting. Theatre work includes: Quills (Luna-id); Much Ado About Nothing (SRT); Macbeth (SRT); Twelfth Night (SRT); Othello (SRT); I’ll Have The Special (Short and Sweet Festival – written by Ken Kwek) Dealer’s Choice (Pangdemonium); Pearl of the Eastern & Oriental (Tan Kheng Hua) at the Georgetown Festival, Penang; Peter and the Starcatcher (Pangdemonium) and The Pillowman (Pangdemonium), for which he received a Life! Theatre Award Nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Andy teaches drama at Stamford American International School.
Wheelsmith is an award winning Music Producer, Rapper and wheelchair rugby player for Team Singapore. He is particularly drawn to rapping as “music allows me to be fearless and brazen”.
He performed with local celebrities for the President’s Star Charity in 2016 and made his debut as a sound engineer, composing soundscapes and performing for the theatre production And Suddenly I Disappear: The Singapore/UK ‘d’ Monologues. An international Unlimited Commission, the work travelled to Singapore, London, Leicester, Oxford and Cardiff, Wales.
Since then he has gone on to serve as Sound Designer for Not in my Lifetime? by The Finger Players. He was also a performer and musician at the 2019 National Day Parade. In 2019, he released his debut single Vanilla on various high profile platforms such as Spotify and Apple.
Wheelsmith collaborated with Access Path for the Light to Night Festival 2020, starring in the National Gallery commission Self Portrait, a performative tour crafted as a visitors’ response to the photography of Cultural Medallion winner Chua Soo Bin.
